Murray graduated from McGill University in 1978 with a Bachelor of commerce. He obtained his CA in 1982 and worked in the tax department of a major CA firm. Subsequently he worked in the insolvency field while developing a small base of tax clients. His basic nature was always entrepreneurial. His true passion was always to help small business owners achieve success. It was a natural fit in 1987 to acquire a practice dedicated to the entrepreneurs and the “little guys”. His strengths are taxation, business consulting and estate management.

Syd has always worked in the accounting field. He started at the age of 20 working for Mr. Peter Lurie, the preceding owner of the firm. He became a co-owner of the firm in 1987. His clients are fiercely loyal to him because they know that he takes their interest to heart. He is especially strong in personal tax, taxation for seniors, and small businesses accounting.

Therese moved to Canada in 1987. She had worked for over ten years at a British CA firm and joined FDK in 1988. While working full time, she passed her CGA and is now a partner in the firm. She handles many corporate clients as well as personal tax and estate taxes. She assisted a major tax software company develop their estate tax product. Her input helped them launch this product much earlier than anticipated. In addition to her dedication and incredible work ethic, Therese also has a keen attention to detail and has very strong skills in audit and accounting.

If you want to talk about dedication and persistence, then you’re talking about Sonia. She started working at the firm as a part-time bookkeeper in 1996 and moved up to an accountant position. She obtained her Bachelor of Commerce from Concordia University in 1994. She then completed her CGA while working full time and raising a family. Due to her hard work and perseverance at the firm over the past 20 years, Sonia is now a deserving partner. She manages a large portion of our accounts and specializes in accounting for construction companies. She also handles all our research and development credits. Furthermore, she is the partner responsible for all of our clients who work as independent consultants, many of which are international.

David joined the FDK family in 2011. He was previously employed as the in-house bookkeeper for a film production company. He now handles many of our small personal tax accounts and investment corporations. David also serves as our internal IT department and is responsible for ensuring that the firm remains technologically current. He is always on the lookout for what the new tech thing is (whether it’s accounting software or cloud based storage) to determine whether it can make the firm more efficient or improve our services. He has quickly become a valued asset and an integral part of our team.

Rachelle started as a part-time employee while studying in CEGEP and throughout university. She obtained her Bachelors of Commerce from Concordia University and a Certificate in Public Accounting from McGill University. Prior to re-joining the firm as a full-time employee in 2015, Rachelle worked in the audit department of a major CPA firm. She also passed the UFE and obtained her CPA Auditor, CA designation.

Cindy joined the team in 2010. She continuously demonstrates extreme dedication and is always on top of matters. In her previous employment, she was a bookkeeper and accountant at a large clothing distributor and has quickly learned the ropes of overseeing our clients with owner-managed businesses. Cindy now manages our group of independent consultants. Cindy has also taken on a personnel management role and handles the scheduling and workload for our part-time staff and junior team members.
